Winn to run in 100m race at COSSA

PETERBOROUGH -- Grade 12 athlete Luke Winn had been on several of his Port Hope High School sports teams prior to last year.

Track and field, however, was new to him.

"It was getting near the end of the year so I thought I'd try track and field," he said at the Kawartha Secondary School Athletic Association championship meet in Peterborough on Thursday of his introduction to the events a year ago.

Winn competed in the 100m dash, 200m dash, shot put and the 4x100m relay. He finished "middle of the pack" at the Kawartha meet in 2010 and didn't advance to the Central Ontario championship meet in any individual events, though did go on with the relay team.
